Smallbatch is a family-owned craft raw pet food maker from California that prioritizes 100% traceable, species-appropriate nutrition. Unlike brands that rely on synthetic vitamin packs, Smallbatch derives all essential vitamins and minerals entirely from whole food sources—combining humanely raised, antibiotic-free meats, 100% certified organic produce, and pure supplements like organic ocean kelp and raw apple cider vinegar.

Most commercial pet foods use synthetic vitamin and mineral premixes imported from lab facilities to hit nutritional minimums. Smallbatch formulates recipes so that all nutrients—including Vitamin E, B-complex, copper, and zinc—come naturally from real muscle meat, organ meats, ground bone, organic herbs, and superfoods, offering maximum bioavailability for dogs and cats.

Freeze-drying removes moisture from fresh raw ingredients through sub-zero flash freezing and vacuum pressure (sublimation) without applying heat. This gentle process locks in naturally occurring digestive enzymes, heat-sensitive vitamins, and raw animal protein structures, delivering all the health benefits of a raw diet with shelf-stable convenience.

Smallbatch works directly with transparent, ethical family farms:

• Beef & Lamb: Pasture-raised and grass-fed in New Zealand.
• Poultry: GAP-rated free-range chicken and turkey from local U.S. farms.
• Pork: Crate-free, raised without growth promotants.
• Produce: 100% certified organic, non-GMO vegetables, fruits, and herbs free from synthetic pesticides.

Yes, rehydrating is strongly recommended! Rehydrating freeze-dried raw food with warm water, bone broth, or goat's milk restores the natural ~70% moisture content of a fresh raw diet. This supports optimal kidney function, smooth digestion, and proper urinary tract health—especially in cats.

Yes! Smallbatch sliders and bites make exceptional high-value training rewards or crunch toppers over kibble. If feeding dry, always ensure your dog or cat has immediate access to a full bowl of fresh drinking water.

Absolutely. Smallbatch offers single-source protein recipes (such as 100% Chicken, Duck, Lamb, Pork, or Beef) that contain zero grains, legumes, corn, soy, peas, lentils, or potatoes. Eliminating cheap fillers and common allergens makes it ideal for pets with food sensitivities, IBD, or chronic itchy skin.

Pet parents switching to Smallbatch typically notice:

• Significantly smaller, firmer, and less smelly stools.
• Softer, glossier coats with reduced seasonal shedding.
• Increased energy, cleaner teeth, and fresher breath.
• Enhanced appetite in picky or aging pets.

Smallbatch recipes incorporate targeted functional ingredients:

• Organic Ocean Kelp: Rich in bioavailable trace minerals and iodine for thyroid health.
• Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar: Supports healthy gut acidity and digestion.
• Pollock & Salmon Oil: Packed with EPA/DHA Omega-3s for joint and skin health.
• Fermented Vegetable Probiotics: Nourishes gut microflora to boost immunity.

Yes! Mixing crumbled Smallbatch sliders into dry kibble is a cost-effective way to introduce live raw nutrition, active enzymes, and real animal protein into your pet's daily diet without making a 100% dietary switch.
